Loud Exhaust Leads To 3 Arrests On Weapon, Narcotics Charges: FCPD
A loud vehicle exhaust led to the arrest of three Alexandria men on drug and weapon charges in Woodlawn, according to authorities.

WOODLAWN, VA — Three Alexandria men are facing various drug and weapon charges after they were stopped by police in the Woodlawn area on Tuesday night due to the loud, modified exhaust of the vehicle they were riding in, according to authorities.
Fairfax County police officers were conducting proactive enforcement near Russell Road and Norwood Driver when they pulled over the vehicle around 9:23 p.m., according to the incident report.
While speaking to the driver and passengers, officers noticed one of the passengers becoming visibly nervous, according to police.

"The passenger was asked to exit the vehicle," police say. "During the encounter, Maico Barrios II, 18, of Alexandria, began to resist and reached toward his waistband. Officers intervened and took him into custody. A firearm was located on his person."
Searching the vehicle, the officers found a second firearm, as well as evidence believe to be connected to the distribution of narcotics involving suspected marijuana and mushrooms, according to police. Detectives from FCPD's Narcotics Unit were contacted and began investigating the case.

Barrios was taken to the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center and charged with possession with intent to distribute marijuana, possession with intent to distribute psilocybin, possession of a firearm with a Schedule I or II narcotic, carrying a concealed firearm, obstruction of justice with force, attempted malicious wounding of a law enforcement officer, and use of a frearm in the commission of a felony. He was then held on no bond.
Police also arrested the driver and a second passenger, both of whom were also taken to the ADU.
Michael Owusu, 19, of Alexandria, was charged with improper exhaust, failure to stop before entering a highway, possession with intent to distribute marijuana, and possession with Intent to distribute psilocybin, according to police.
Bashir Abdelmonim Bakhit, 19, of Alexandria, was charged with possession with intent to distribute marijuana, possession with intent to distribute psilocybin, possession of a firearm with a Schedule I or II narcotic, and possession of a fictitious license, according to police.
Investigators are also pursuing petitions for the arrest of a 17-year-old male who was also in the vehicle, police say.
Barrios was arraigned Wednesday morning in Fairfax County General District Court, according to court records. He had a bond hearing Thursday, but as of Monday afternoon he remains in custody. A preliminary hearing was scheduled for 2 p.m. on March 16.
The most serious charge Barrios is facing is the attempted malicious wounding of a law enforcement officer, which is a Class 4 felony. If convicted on this charge, he faces a potential sentence of two to 10 years in prison and a fine of up to $100,000, under the Code of Virginia.
Owusu and Bakhit are scheduled to be arraigned at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday and have a preliminary hearing scheduled for 2 p.m on March 18, according to court records. Both were released on bond.
The most serious charge both Owusu and Bakhit are facing is the possession with intent to distribute marijuana, which is a Class 5 felony. They each face a possible sentence of one to 10 years in prison or up to 12 months of jail and a fine up to $2,500, according to Virginia law.
