Fatal Bus Wreck: GW Parkway Will Be Closed For Hours

MOUNT VERNON, VA — A fatal wreck involving a tour bus has closed George Washington Memorial Parkway in both directions near Mount Vernon.

The road is expected to be closed until midnight or later, according to Fairfax County Police.

Police are reporting one person is dead and 18 are injured. Three of the injured are considered critical.

The wreck is at the intersection with Stratford Lane and reportedly involves a tour bus.

Northbound lanes are closed at the circle at Mount Vernon and southbound lanes are closed at Stratford Lane, according to police.
