Robbery, Assault at Richmond Highway Gas Station: Police
Clerk, 55, tried to intervene during robbery Thursday night but was assaulted, police said.

FAIRFAX COUNTY, VA -- Police say a Richmond Highway gas station was robbed Thursday night and a clerk who tried to intervene was assaulted.
Police were called to the Sunoco gas station in the 8300 block of Richmond Highway Thursday around 7 p.m. An investigation determined the clerk, a 55-year-old man, was outside assisting a customer when a male approached and started talking to him, police said.
The clerk noticed another male inside the store stealing money, police said. The clerk immediately moved and confronted the suspect, who allegedly assaulted him and both suspects fled on foot, according to police.

Police said the suspects were described as black. One suspect was about 5 feet 11 inches and about 140 pounds, with dreadlocks. He wore blue pants with white stripes and yellow shoes. The other suspect was about 5 feet 8 inches tall and about 160 pounds.
The victim did not require medical attention, according to police.
