Suspect Faces Drug, Weapons Charges in Mount Vernon Area: Police

Police responded after they thought someone was breaking into a car, but instead man was charged with weapons, drug violations.

FAIRFAX COUNTY, VA -- Responding to what they thought was a car break-in, Fairfax County Police arrested a man instead on drug and weapons charges early Sunday in the Mount Vernon area.

Police were called to the area near Sacramento Drive and Bedford Terrace (see map below) Sunday around 12:30 a.m., when police say a man was seen attempting to break into a car. When officers arrived, they identified the man as being an authorized driver of the car.

Officers smelled a strong odor of marijuana and saw a handgun in plain view inside the car, police said. A search was conducted and three handguns were recovered along with drugs, according to police.

Alhaji Gibril Allie, 21, of Woodbridge was arrested, taken to the Adult Detention Center and charged with three counts of concealed weapon, receiving and/or possessing a stolen firearm and possession of marijuana, police said.
