Flint Hill School rebounded from a tough first period to emerge victorious in a high-scoring game against Georgetown Day School on Tuesday.
The Huskies defeated the Mighty Hoppers 87-66 after starting the game down 7-0. Senior point guard Mo Berchie kept the Huskies in contention the first period scoring 16 of his 20 points, 12 through 3-pointers. Brian McDonald also contributed two points to help the Huskies finish the first period up 18-17.
"Mo's a kid who can definitely score baskets in bunches. Getting him to score usually isn't a problem," Coach Rico Reed said. "What we want from Mo more is for him to step up his defense. He's a leader of this team, and so if his game is off defensively, the rest of the team is off defensively."

The Huskies were able to stretch their lead to 12 points heading into halftime with junior Chrystian Brown and senior Troy Thomas posting 13 of the Huskies' 27 points in the second period.
"[The Hoppers'] Anthony Campbell is one of the leading scorers in the area, and I challenged the guys before the game to step up their defense," Coach Rico Reed said. "Well, in the first half, we didn't handle the challenge very well. But I think the way we ended the first half is more the kind of game we wanted to play."

Campbell led the game with 24 points.
The Hoppers came out strong after the half, foiling Husky shots while going on their own scoring run. But senior Daniel Giguere, who sat most of the first half after fouling twice early in the game, re-energized his squad with a dominant performance in the paint.
Giguere scored 16 points, a career high, in the third period alone to kick off the Huskies' command in the second half.
"When I say leader, that's our leader. He's our captain, an emotional guy and we feed off that," Reed said. "He came into the second half with energy and he got extra possessions for us, which is crucial with us not being a very tall team. His overall energy you can see in the rest of the team. He started doing well and all of a sudden the kids are animated and excited because he's animated and excited."
The Huskies would tack on 18 more points before the end of the game to defeat the Hoppers 87-66.
