New Chain Bridge Road Ramp To Interstate 66 Opens: VDOT
As the Interstate 66 Express Lanes project continues, one permanent ramp from the Route 123 interchange is open.

OAKTON, VA — Drivers will see a new traffic pattern along Chain Bridge Road to Interstate 66 as a new ramp loop opened Tuesday.
The new permanent loop ramp connects southbound Route 123 (Chain Bridge Road) to eastbound I-66, according to the Virginia Department of Transportation. The ramp is on the right side of the roadway near the location of the previous loop. The current left-turn lane to a temporary ramp from Route 123 to eastbound I-66 will close.
While the ramp to eastbound I-66 is complete, a temporary ramp is being used to access westbound I-66. Drivers heading from southbound Route 123 to westbound I-66 will use a left-turn lane and traffic signal to a temporary ramp as a permanent ramp is constructed.

The Route 123 interchange is being reconstructed for the Transform 66 Outside the Beltway Project, which will add 22.5 miles of Express Lanes between the Capital Beltway and University Boulevard in Gainesville. The Route 123 interchange segment of the project will connect Route 123 with the future Express Lanes, boost safety for road users, and connect the planned George Snyder Trail in Fairfax City with Oakton and a new shared-use path by providing a grade-separated trail through the Route 123 interchange.
The Express Lanes are expected to open in December 2022. For project updates, visit outside.transform66.org.
