Thrilling and Jaw-Dropping Dive Meet Sees Oakton Otters Triumph

Oakton, VA – In a nail-biting finish, the Oakton Otters dive team emerged victorious over Vienna Woods, by a score of 37-35. The thrilling match, held on Tuesday, July 9th, at Vienna Wood's pool, showcased exceptional diving talent from both teams and kept spectators on the edge of their seats. The thrilling match solidified the Otters' position as a dominant force in the Northern Virginia Swim League (NVSL) Division I.

The Otters demonstrated remarkable depth across all age groups, with standout performances from Sophia Blanco and Chloe Sanglier in the freshman girls division. The freshman boys swept the podium, with Tyler Kroopnick, Gabe Wilson, and Graham Smith claiming the top three spots. Simone Wilson and Lauren Emerick secured second and third place finishes in the junior girls event, while Timmy Van Haute and Jameson Ham mirrored their success in the junior boys event.


Charlotte Henderson dominated the intermediate girls division, with her sister Ella securing third place. Colby Reese represented the Otters well in the intermediate boys division with a third-place finish. Isabelle Whang led the senior girls with a first-place victory, followed by Kayla Knight in second.

Brendan Doe contributed valuable points to the team with a third-place finish in the senior boys division. With a total impressive score of 263.15, Brendan broke the Oakton Otter's pool record.

The intense competition between Oakton and Vienna Woods is renowned for its sportsmanship and camaraderie, and this meet was no exception. Both teams showcased incredible athleticism, with divers executing jaw-dropping dives that included complex maneuvers like the Back 1 1/2 Somersault 1 1/2 Twist Free, Forward 2 1/2 Somersault 2 Twist Pike, and Reverse 2 1/2 Somersault Tuck.


The Oakton community is encouraged to support the Otters at their final dual meet of the season against Fairfax at the Oakton Swim & Racquet Club. As the team aims to solidify their position as the top dive team in Division I, their continued success is a source of pride for the entire community.
