Oakton Otters ripped it at Wally Martin Memorial Dive Meet
Otters Dive Team Soars to New Heights in 3M and Synchro
Oakton, VA – The Oakton Otters dive team continues to make waves (but not splashes!) in the local and regional diving community. The team recently dominated the Wally Martin Memorial Championship, capturing numerous medals and breaking pool records.
Freshmen Sophia Blanco and Tyler Kroopnick led the charge, with Sophia claiming first place and breaking the Oakton Otter’s pool record with an impressive score of 69.10. Tyler secured third place, while teammates Brayden Lane and Patrick Walsh also placed in the top ten.
The team’s success extended across all age groups. Simone Wilson, Charlotte Henderson, Isabelle Whang, Thibault Lede, Brendan Doe, and Jon Anthony Montel all brought home top-six finishes in their respective divisions.

The synchronized diving duos of Brendan & Jon Anthony, Bennet & Thibault, Simone & Lauren, and Kayla & Isabelle, also excelled, with Simone & Lauren breaking the pool record set in 2015.

Several Oakton Otters have earned even greater recognition. Sophia Blanco, Isabelle Whang, Thibault Lede, and Brendan Doe competed in the Zone A Championship Diving in June, with Thibault and Brendan qualifying for the USA Diving Junior Nationals in late July.

The Oakton Otters are also reigning Champions of the Northern Virginia Swim League, competing to secure their third consecutive Division I title.
These outstanding achievements are a testament to the hard work and dedication of both the athletes and their coaches. Head Coach Ken Hansen, Assistant Head Coach Katie Vaughan, Clinic and Developmental Head Coach Cheryl Meltz-Kroopnick, and Junior Assistant Coaches Isabelle Whang, Thibault Lede, and Jon Anthony Montel have played instrumental roles in the team’s success.
The Oakton Otters dive team is a source of pride for the community and a shining example of athletic excellence. As they continue to push the boundaries of their sport, we eagerly anticipate their future accomplishments.
