Swim & Dive: Cougars Finish Season Undefeated
Cougars boys, girls defeat Robinson for third time this season
The Oakton High swim and dive boys and girls teams bested the Robinson Rams for the third time this season to finish the regular season undefeated.
The boys won 190-125, while the girls won 190-124 in the meet at Audrey Moore Recreation Center on Friday for a 7-0 season.
Denny Nguyen took first for the team in 100-yard backstroke and second in 100-yard butterfly. Philip Hu finished first in 200-yard individual medley. Carter Sharer placed first in 50-yard freestyle, while Conor Murphy finished first in 100-yard Freestyle. Brian Phillips placed first in 500-yard freestyle. Ricky Menendez placed first in 100-yard breaststroke.

Ashley Doran placed first in the 50-yard freestyle and 100-yard backstroke. Janet Hu finished first in the 100-yard butterfly. Kendall Lawhorn took first in the 500-yard freestyle. Laura Branton finished first in 100-yard breaststroke.
"We worked so hard this year as a team, and we all were so close. A lot of credit goes to our new coaches. They were so supportive and wanted us to succeed and brought a lot of spirit to the team," said Melissa Shebat, a junior on the team. "I really think we are going to do amazing in the postseason!"

Oakton's dive team continued to be a consistently strong force, as Joseph LeBerre placed second, and Andy Berger took fourth for the boys.
Oakton returns to the pool for the Concorde District Meet this Friday and Saturday at Cub Run Recreation Center.
