2 Alexandria Lottery Winners Score Six-Figure Prizes

Two Alexandria women had luck on their side with six-figure top prizes in the Virginia Lottery.

ALEXANDRIA, VA — Two Alexandria woman had luck on their side when they recently won hundreds of thousands of dollars in Virginia Lottery games.

Victoria Richards awoke to her mother screaming on the phone.

"It’s three o’clock in the morning! Why are you screaming?" Richards recalled saying.

"We won! We won!" her mother said.

That was in reference to a Cash 5 with EZ Match ticket Richards bought winning the $383,065 jackpot. Her mother often plays the lottery and gave her daughter her usual numbers for the Cash5 ticket, saying "Maybe you’ll be lucky!"

That turned out to be true with the winning numbers of 8-10-15-31-34. The Cash5 with EZ Match game has a rolling jackpot starting at $200,000 with a 1 in 1,221,759 chance of winning the jackpot.

Richards bought the winning ticket at the 7-Eleven at 30 Reynolds Street in Alexandria.

The other winner was Denise Freeman, who claimed the third and final top prize in the Money Multiplier game. Freeman knew she had a winning ticket but was shocked to find the prize was $500,000. Her winnings will be valuable as Freeman gets close to retiring.

The winning ticket came from BJ’s at 110 S. Van Dorn Street in Alexandria. The Money Multiplier game featured prizes ranging from $10 to the $500,000 top prize. The chances of winning the top prize in this game were 1 in 775,200, and the odds of winning any prize were 1 in 3.67.
