How to get down to some fun Friday, July 26 in Old Town Alexandria

It’s Friday and the weather around Old Town Alexandria is supposed to be downright lovely. You look like you already know how to have fun, but just in case, here are 5 Things to help you wind up your weekend:
Almost Bon Jovi — Living on a Bad Name, a Bon Jovi cover band from Massachusetts (not Jersey?) brings its high-energy act to Old Town’s Waterfront Park (1A Prince St.) at 7 p.m. for a free concert.
If you’re looking for a sampling of hits, deep cuts and perhaps a dose of bad medicine, check out this tribute act featuring guitar dynamo Ethan Brosh and radio personality Ken Pittman.

Attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and blankets. Food and refreshments will be available for purchase and attendees are welcome to bring a picnic. No grilling or pets allowed.
Piano — Morrison House (116 S. Alfred St.) is hosting its Friday sing-along in its piano bar featuring Bob Smith and friends. Doors open at 6 p.m.

The Planning Commission is coming! Retreat! — The influential Alexandria commission is holding a retreat from 8 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at police headquarters, 3600 Wheeler Ave. The commission will discuss its schedule, community outreach, committee assignments, goals and policies and perhaps most important, updates on major ongoing projects. Free, anyone may attend.
Flat Iron Steak and Saloon now open — The former Aqua Viva restaurant located at 808 King St. is being restarted as an old-fashioned steakhouse. Today is its grand opening. Call ahead for hours of operation (703-299-0777).
No Line at H&M — You can avoid the long line today at Old Town’s newest store, which opened Thursday to much fanfare in the 600 block of King Street.
