5 Things: H&M Opening, Barbershop, Jane Austen and the Redskins
A look at Thursday in Old Town Alexandria.

We’re inching closer to the weekend, Old Towners. Here’s a look at what’s happening this Thursday around town and elsewhere.
H&M Opens — The clothing retailer is scheduled to open its new shop located at 614 King St. at noon. H&M is offering the first 100 shoppers in line on opening day an “all-access fashion pass” valued up to $300 off a shopper’s entire purchase. Georgetown Cupcakes will also be distributed.

Barbershop Chorus — The Alexandria Harmonizers bring their international championship style to a barbershop chorus at John Carlyle Park, 300 John Carlyle St. The Carlyle Music at Twilight Concerts begin at 7:30 p.m. and wrap up around 8:30 p.m.
Jane Austen Dance Class — In preparation for the Jane Austen Ball on Aug. 11, learn 18th-Century English country dancing from expert dance instructors. It costs $12 per class or $30 for the series (July 25, Aug. 1, 6), Gadsby’s Tavern Museum, 134 N. Royal St., Alexandria.

Hail to the Redskins! — The NFL season is fast approaching. The first Redskins training session open to the public and free of charge happens at 3:20 p.m. at the Bon Secours Training Center in Richmond. Gates open at 9 a.m. and close at 5 p.m.
If you miss them on Thursday, the Skins practice almost daily from Thursday throughout July and most of August. Fans are encouraged to visit the Redskins website for up-to-the-minute information. There are no bleachers on-site and fans are encouraged to bring lawn chairs or blankets to sit on during practice. A list of available parking lots can be found at the Redskins’ training camp page.
Kids Rock — National Harbor is hosting kids’ band Milkshake for free concerts at 10 a.m. and noon at the Carousel at National Harbor.
