School Starts Tuesday: Alexandria City Public Schools 2016-2017 Calendar

ALEXANDRIA, VA -- Thoughts turning to school starting soon? The first bell on the 2016-17 school year will ring on Tuesday, Sept. 6 for students who attend Alexandria City Public Schools, and that means parents need to get their calendars in order.

To help out, here's a listing of important dates in the coming year:

• Sept. 5: Holiday (Labor Day)
• Sept. 6: FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL
• Nov. 7: End of first quarter
• Nov. 8: Teacher Work Day (no school)
• Nov. 23-25: Holiday (Thanksgiving)
• Dec. 22-Jan. 2: Winter Break
• Jan. 16, 2017: Holiday (Martin Luther King Jr. Day)
• Jan. 20, 2017: Holiday (Inauguration Day)
• Feb. 2, 2017: End of second quarter
• Feb. 3, 2017: Teacher Work Day (no school)
• Feb. 20, 2017: Holiday (President's Day)
• April 6, 2017: End of third quarter
• April 7, 2017: Teacher Work Day (no school)
• April 10-14: Holiday (Spring Break)
• May 29, 2017: Holiday (Memorial Day)
• June 20, 2017: Early Release (High School)
• June 22, 2017: Last Day of School (End of fourth quarter)
