Alexandria City Public Schools Names New Deputy Superintendent
Madye Henson will join the ACPS administration July 18

Alexandria City Public Schools has named Madye Henson deputy superintendent beginning July 18.
Henson most recently served as president and CEO of Greater D.C. Cares, a nonprofit coordinator of volunteerism and community service in greater Washington. She has Alexandria roots - Henson served as vice president of community impact development for United Way Worldwide in Alexandria.
She is also the parent of a T.C. Williams High School graduate and a current student there.

"In searching for someone to fill this position, I was particularly keen on finding someone deeply connected to Alexandria's community and who understood our school division," Sherman said. He also lauded her ability to bridge the worlds of education and business. She holds Master's and Doctorate degrees in business.
"Over the past several years, I have had the opportunity to lead and work on several strategic committees supporting ACPS," Henson said, adding that she looks forward to the "transformation of the district."
