Alexandria First Responders Rescue Distraught Woman from Potomac Early Sunday
Three responders jumped into river Sunday at 1 a.m. to rescue woman who made statements regarding her health and well-being, police said.

ALEXANDRIA, VA -- A distraught woman was pulled from the Potomac River by three Alexandria first responders early Sunday, the Alexandria Police Department announced Monday.
Around 1 a.m. on Sunday, Alexandria Police officers started looking for a woman who made statements regarding her health and well-being earlier in the evening, police said. Officers located her at the dead end of Prince Street beside the Potomac (see map below).
Before they could reach her, she jumped into the water.

Fearing for her safety, Sgt. Meekins, Officer Parker, and Fire Department, City of Alexandria, VA Fire Marshal Buchanan followed her into the river, police said. They were able to get her safely back to shore where she received the mental health treatment that she needed, according to police.
