Alexandria Pet Of The Week: Geno Brings Big Dog Energy

ALEXANDRIA, VA — If big dogs are your kind of companion, August is the time to bring one home.

The Animal Welfare League of Alexandria is holding its "Find Your Big Dog Energy" adoption event throughout August. Adoption fees are waived for dogs 40 pounds or more thanks to The Nellis Group. Adopters will receive a dog bed sized for big dogs while supplies last.

One of the adoptable big dogs is Geno, who may be shy at first but loves playing with other dogs.

Geno is a 7-month-old, 54-pound male puppy looking for a wonderful, patient home. Geno came to us a little scared, but has blossomed into a wonderful, playful dog. He can still be a bit shy when meeting new people, but he's getting more social and comfortable every day. Geno has done really well with other dogs at the shelter. He loves to play chase games with other dogs and will play for hours if you let him. So, if you have another playful dog in the home, Geno might be a perfect companion. As he's a (big) puppy, his new family would be committed to continuing his training.
