ALEXANDRIA, VA — At the Animal Welfare League of Alexandria, there are a variety of pets that can start their next chapter with new families. That includes senior pups who simply want to live out their golden years in a loving home.

One of these pets is Zoey, a 12-year-old girl who brings a playful and easygoing nature. She does well with kids and loves going on walks and playing with toys.

The Animal Welfare League of Alexandria typically opens for adoptions at noon to 5 p.m. on weekends and 7 p.m. on weekdays, except when it's closed on Wednesday. It will also be closed May 26 for Memorial Day.

Here's more information on Zoey:

Meet Zoey - a 12-year old female dog who is a beautiful brindle color and weighs 68 pounds. Zoey is a sweet and affectionate girl looking to settle into a comfortable home for her golden years. Though she’s a senior pup, Zoey loves going for walks, playing with squeaky toys, chasing balls, and (on occasion) bringing them back! Zoey has excellent leash manners, is house-trained and, as reported from a previous guardian, does well when left home alone for a few hours. She’s also shared a home with children and infants, so could be a great fit in a home with younger kids. Shelter life is not always easy, but Zoey has remained calm and loving towards all the people she meets so we expect she will fit in seamlessly in her new home. If you are looking for a calm, easy-going companion who can also be playful, Zoey might be just right!
