Alexandria Police Arrest Man for Stealing Coats at Murphy's Pub

Alexandria Police arrest 38-year-old Arlington man for larceny in Old Town

Alexandria detectives have charged a man responsible for a larceny that occurred in February.

Barry E. Kaplan Jr., 38, of Arlington has been charged with two counts of grand larceny and one count of petit larceny, according to Alexandria Police.  He is being held at the Alexandria Adult Detention Center. Kaplan has been charged with stealing two coats, one of which contained a Samsung Galaxy tablet, according to police spokesman Jody Donaldson.

The charges stem from a larceny that occurred Feb. 5 around 11:30 p.m. at , located at 713 King Street. Two coats were taken from a chair while the owners of those coats were inside the restaurant.  The victims noticed their coats missing when they went to leave and reported the theft to police.
