ALEXANDRIA, VA — Alexandria students will have at least one additional day off after winter break.

The school system announced schools and offices are closed on Monday, Jan. 6. There will be no virtual learning, as the day will be treated as a regular snow day. Activities on ACPS school grounds are cancelled.

The change is due to a winter storm that could bring a foot of snow to the region, starting late Sunday into Monday. Alexandria and other parts of the region are under a winter storm warning from 10 p.m. Sunday to 1 a.m. Tuesday.
