Alexandria Rugby Hosts New Zealand Fundraiser at O'Connell's in Old Town

Former New Zealand Prime Minister Moore is scheduled to attend along with Alexandria Mayor Euille. Proceeds go to victims of the Christchurch earthquake.

Looking for something fun to do this weekend for a good cause? Alexandria Rugby is hosting a fundraiser for the victims of the recent earthquake in Christchurch, New Zealand.  

Alexandria Rugby, joined by the New Zealand expatriate organization Kea, will gather on Saturday for a free event from 10 a.m. to  2 p.m. at  at 112 King Street in Old Town.

New Zealand Ambassador and former Prime Minister Mike Moore is scheduled to attend along with Alexandria Mayor Bill Euille. The fundraiser will take place during the 6 Nations Rugby Tournament, which is televised live at O'Connell’s.

The event includes items to be auctioned and raffled such as a weekend stay at a bed and breakfast in Cape May, N.J., gift certificates to area restaurants and cases of New Zealand wine.

All proceeds from the event will be donated to the America New Zealand Association's Christchurch Earthquake Relief Fund. All are invited to attend and support the people of Christchurch, including the many Alexandria Rugby friends and family who were affected by the tragedy. Donations to the ANZA Christchurch Earthquake Relief Fund may also be made at www.AlexandriaRugby.org.

Alexandria Rugby is a non-profit organization based in Alexandria dedicated to promoting and developing fitness, sportsmanship, teamwork and leadership in Alexandria's youth through the game of rugby.
