Alexandria Sweet Shop to Close Its Doors Next Month
The Sugar Cube, at 1218 King St., will offer some "sweet" discounts to customers before they say "so long!" in May.

ALEXANDRIA, VA -- After 10 years in business, The Sugar Cube announced this week that they'll be closing their doors for good next month. The store, which offers all sorts of sweets including gourmet truffles, jars of jelly beans and nostalgic candies, is located at 1218 King St.

"We will be closing for good at 7 p.m. on May 25," the owners said on their Facebook page.
Got a sweet tooth and want to stock up? Sales at The Sugar Cube begin Monday, May 9, with increasing discounts until May 25, they said. Merchandise will be slashed, to 75 percent off, before the doors close for good.

Here's a look at the upcoming sales:
- Monday, May 9: 20 percent off
- Sunday, May 15: 30 percent off
- Thursday, May 19: 40 percent off
- Monday, May 23: 60 percent off
- Sunday, May 29: 75 percent off
"It's been an awesome journey and we want to thank all of you for your friendship and patronage," the owners said. "Please stop in this month to stock up on your favorites or just to say goodbye. Let's all go forth and be sweet!"
