Armed Assault Saturday Night in Alexandria: Police
A suspect is in custody after a "felonious assault" that sent the victim to the hospital Saturday night, police said.

ALEXANDRIA, VA -- A victim was sent to the hospital Saturday night in Alexandria after he or she was assaulted by an armed suspect, according to police. There was no word from police on the condition of the victim.
Police are investigating what they are calling the "felonious assault," which usually means the suspect was armed with something like a gun or a knife.
Police sent out an alert shortly before midnight about the armed assault, which took place in the 500 block of John Carlyle Street (see map below), in the City's Carlyle neighborhood.

Police say the suspect is in custody. No word on the suspect's name or the charges he or she is facing.
