Avenue Q, Rondell Sheridan, Crawstickers and Aces Baseball

Here are five things to kick off your weekend, including playoff baseball—which I don’t think we’ll be seeing from the big club in the District this fall.

Avenue Q — The Tony Award-winning musical comedy featuring racy puppets and rowdy songs recently kicked off its run at The Little Theatre of Alexandria (600 Wolfe St.). Today’s show of this coming-of-age tale begins at 8 p.m. Tickets are $27. For mature audiences only.

Standup comedy — Actor-comedian Rondell Sheridan performs standupat 8 and 11 p.m. at the Old Town Theater (815 King St.). Tickets run between $22.50 and $27.50. Sheridan, who’s best know for his work on a pair of Disney Show sitcoms, will follow two shows on Saturday. Visit the Old Town Theater website for more information.

Crawstickers — Looking for some live tunes tonight? The Crawstickers bring their jazz, roots, rock, reggae and blues gumbo to Two Nineteen Restaurant (219 King St.) beginning at 9 p.m.

Aces Rescheduled — Thursday’s playoff game was a rainout, so the Aces will take Frank Mann Field at 2 p.m. today against the Baltimore Redbirds. On Wednesday, the Aces won their first game in the double-elimination Cal Ripken Baseball League playoffs and remain in the winners bracket. Adult tickets to Friday’s game are $5, and children 12 and under are $3.

Sales Tax Holiday — The Commonwealth of Virginia’s annual August sales tax holiday begins today and runs through Sunday. Qualifying school supplies selling for $20 or less per item and purchases of qualifying clothing and footwear selling for $100 or less per item will be exempt from sales taxes.
