Bike to Work Day 2016: Alexandria Pit Stops

Are you riding your bike to work on Friday? Alexandria businesses will be at four City pit stops Friday morning to fortify your ride.

ALEXANDRIA, VA -- Ready to ditch the car keys or Metro and grab your bicycle and helmet for Bike to Work Day on Friday?

Commuter Connections and the Washington Area Bicyclist Association are celebrating bicycling Friday as a clean, fun, and healthy way to get to work. You can attend one of 83 pit stops in the Washington, D.C., area to receive refreshments, and be entered into a raffle for bicycles being given away.

Bicycle safety education efforts remind both bicyclists and drivers to share the road and look out for each other.

Bike to Work Day registration continues through the end of the day Thursday, May 19; register for Bike to Work Day events around the region at Bike to Work Metro DC.

If you're a first time rider and don't want to go it alone, you can link up with a convoy or find a ride buddy!

The D.C. area will see more than 15,000 commuters ride their bikes. Register and drop by one of the Alexandria’s four pit stops, located at City Hall/Market Square, Carlyle, Mark Center, and Del Ray Friday morning. (See more details on hours, donors and more below by clicking on each link.)

Registrants of the Old Town pit stop, which starts at 6:30 a.m., will get a free T-shirt, refreshments, snacks, and can enter one of several raffles for great prizes. The event will go on rain or shine.

Helping make Bike to Work Day the great event that it is are the exhibitors and donors that volunteer their time, energy, enthusiasm, information, and great gifts. Here is a list of who you can expect to see on Friday at the Old Town pit stop:

Bike to Work Day is an annual event, coordinated regionally by WABA and Commuter Connections, celebrating new and seasoned bicycle commuters.
