ALEXANDRIA, VA — Alexandria is arguably one of the best places to spend the holiday season, not just within the D.C. region.

The city had been named one of the best Christmas towns in the world by Oprah Magazine and has earned similar accolades from other publications. It's no surprise given the city's many holiday events, trees adorned with twinkling lights along King Street in Old Town and the plentiful shops to find holiday gifts.

As the holiday season approaches, a lineup of holiday events has been announced to help residents and visitors prepare. Events will kick off in mid-November and continue through December.
