City of Alexandria Offering Eight Free Energy Assessments

Deadline to submit an application is Apr. 8

The City of Alexandria over the next year will provide eight free energy assessments to building owners in Alexandria using grant money from the Department of Energy’s Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant program.

Four assessments will be basic energy surveys and four assessments will be comprehensive audits of the building and its systems.

To be considered for a free energy assessment, interested building owners should complete an online application at www.alexandriava.gov/GBRC.

Two applicants will be selected from four categories of building types: single-family residence, duplex, or townhome; multi-family residential building; small business or office building; and large office building. Other eligibility requirements are outlined on the website.

The application selection process began last week and the deadline to submit an application is 5 p.m. on Friday, Apr. 8.

Selected buildings will be announced during the week of Apr. 18, and the assessment process is tentatively scheduled to begin in May.
