City Seeks Public Input on Pools

Public meeting on the city's five pools will be held Sept. 19.

How should the city address its aging community pools?

With annual operating costs of $1.6 million and annual revenue of $500,000, the city is taking a long look at just how it can best serve the community and cut costs when it comes to the five city pools. 

With the exception of , the majority of the pools are more than 30 years old with “outdated infrastructure that does not meet current standards,” according to a May aquatic facilities study (PDF) put together by consultants for the city.

To gather community input on the issue, the Department of Recreation, Parks and Cultural Activities wil host a public meeting at 7 p.m. on Sept. 19 at the .
