Person With Medical Emergency Found During Fire Response In Alexandria

ALEXANDRIA, VA — A person with a medical emergency was found in an Alexandria apartment during a fire response Friday, according to the fire department.

Units are on scene of an apartment building at 5140 Fillmore Avenue after a fire was reported on the sixth floor. Units forced entry to an apartment and found an adult unconscious and suffering cardiac arrest. Personnel provided aid to the person, who was taken to the hospital with advanced medical support.

Firefighters contained the small fire to the originating apartment unit. There was no extension of the fire to other units reported.

The response remained active at the building as the investigation continues. There was no immediate word on what caused the fire.

The Alexandria Fire Department said it would release more details when available.
