Double Shooting In Alexandria Leads To Charges For 2

ALEXANDRIA, VA — Two people have been charged in a double shooting that injured two juveniles in late September.

The Sept. 28 shooting happened in a parked car in the area of N. Fayette and Wythe Streets. According to Alexandria Police, officers found two juvenile victims with gunshot wounds. The victims were taken to the hospital and were listed in critical and stable condition.

Fitzhugh Godwin, IV, 22, and Marcus Elliott, 28, both of Fairfax County, were arrested and charged. Godwin was charged with two counts of malicious wounding and one count of use of a firearm during the commission of a felony. Elliott was charged with two counts of malicious wounding, two counts of use of a firearm during the commission of a felony, one count of conspiracy to commit malicious wounding, one count of shooting into an occupied vehicle, and one count of violent felon in possession of a firearm.

Alexandria Police have been monitoring public safety issues in the area of Old Town West. Along with the Sept. 28 shooting, another shooting on Sept. 19 injured three people in the 1300 block of Wythe Street. In response to the shootings, police said they are working with the Alexandria Redevelopment Housing Authority to address public safety. Police increased daily patrol units in the area, ramped up community engagement among residents to address concerns, and assigned a neighborhood resource officer to resolve concerns.
