Fast-Moving Storm To Bring Rain, Wintry Mix To Parts Of NoVA: Latest Forecast
The storm is expected to sweep from the Midwest to the Appalachians on Tuesday and will bring a range of weather to Northern Virginia.
A fast-moving storm will move into Northern Virginia on Tuesday, according to the latest forecasts, and could drop close to an inch of rain on some parts of the region, while others could see a more wintry mix of precipitation.
The storm is expected to sweep from the Midwest to the Appalachians on Tuesday, producing a narrow corridor of snow that could result in slushy and slippery travel conditions through Tuesday night, AccuWeather said in its latest forecast.
Farther south of the storm track, warm, moist air will help fuel rain and thunderstorms from Tuesday afternoon to Tuesday night.

In Northern Virginia, the first drops of rain should occur between about 3 and 7 p.m., from west to east, according to The Washington Post's Capital Weather Gang.
"It’s possible the rain is spotty and intermittent to begin and doesn’t become steady until after 7 p.m. or so," Capital Weather Gang forecasters said. "After several hours of steady rainfall, the precipitation should pull away between about 2 a.m. and 6 a.m. Wednesday from west to east."
Rainfall projections generally range from about 0.2 to 0.75 inches, the Capital Weather Gang said, with 0.25 to 0.5 inches expected for the Beltway area and south, and 0.35 to 0.7 inches north of the Beltway.
While Wednesday should be mostly dry, precipitation will possibly return on Thursday in the form of spotty showers during the evening hours. Showers are also possible on Friday and Saturday, with the sun expected to return on Sunday.
