JJ's Hallmark Closing on King Street

The Hallmark Store on King Street is closing.

The store, at 610 King Street, is looking for a new location in Old Town Alexandria, according to store Manager Pippa Mollenberg. The building where the shop is located has been sold and new owner plans to renovate it. The shop is expected to close mid-June.

John Jones, owner of the Hallmark store, said the new building owner had offered Hallmark the opportunity to stay but the new rent was so high that Jones couldn't even consider staying.

The store is currently offering a 40% discount on all cards with seasonal items going at a 75% reduction and most other items are 25% off.

JJ's Hallmark also has a store in Virginia's Springfield Plaza.
