King Street Paving Begins June 5
Paving and milling starts on Sunday, June 5 from the Strand to the King Street Metro

Paving and milling construction will begin on King Street from the Strand to the King Street Metro beginning June 5.
Construction will take place over the next several weeks, Sunday through Thursday, from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. The city has put together a website with more information and a Frequently Asked Questions section. It includes some interesting information, such as King Street has not been repaved in 20 years.

- Parking will be maintained on one side of the street at all times during construction operations. Temporary “No Parking” signs may be placed on each block prior to any construction activity;
- Traffic in immediate areas will be redirected during paving operations. To facilitate traffic control, the city will post signs on side streets and use message boards, flaggers, barricades and signs along King Street;
- The city obtained a noise permit for construction work, and crews are aiming to complete the project with minimal disruption, according to the city;
- Construction crews are coordinating with city arborists to minimize impact to overhanging tree branches and limbs; and
- Streets will be restriped after resurfacing.
