ALEXANDRIA, VA — Alexandria's Port City Brewing Company now has a permanent food vendor on site as it celebrated the grand opening of a locally-based taquería last Saturday.

The locally-based La Tingeria comes from Chef David Peña. This is the third location for La Tingeria, which has other locations in Falls Church and Spotsylvania. The taqueria has won praise from The Washington Post’s Tim Carman and made Washingtonian’s 100 Best Restaurants list in 2023 and 2024.

At Port City Brewing Company, the menu features exclusive items like lamb burger sliders and Sonoran hot dogs wrapped in halal beef bacon. Peña's popular menu items like goat and beef birria tacos are also served at the new location. This is Port City Brewing Company's first permanent food vendor.

"We are really happy to pair his award-winning Mexican street food with our award-winning
local craft beer," said Port City Brewing Company founder Bill Butcher. "Over the years, Mayor Wilson has referred to Port City beer as one of Alexandria’s best exports. I’d like to add to that. I think La Tingeria and David Peña will be one of Alexandria’s best imports."

"We are happy to be in the city of Alexandria and for Bill and Karen for reaching out to us out of a lot of other people they were considering for this partnership," added Peña. "This is a great fit because it’s not too heavy. You’re able to go in to enjoy a beer, come back for a tostada, then go inside again and get another beer."
