Major VA Retailers Closed For Thanksgiving 2025: See The List
From Walmart to Target, many stores will close their doors for the Thanksgiving holiday this year.
Thanksgiving is just days away, and as usual, many retailers in Virginia have decided to close their doors to give employees time to spend with their families.
This year, the list includes major chains such as Walmart, Target, Best Buy and Macy's.
Some chains that have opened on Thanksgiving in past years have decided to close this year, including Michael’s and Walgreens. For the third year, most Walgreens stores will close — except 24-hour locations, which will provide essential pharmacy services.

For last-minute shoppers or those who forgot a crucial Thanksgiving dinner ingredient, Whole Foods will remain open for the holiday but with limited hours.
Macy's will be closed for Thanksgiving this year and will re-open on Black Friday, with extended hours from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. Shoppers who want to get an early start on Black Friday deals are encouraged to shop online or on the Macy's mobile app.

Stores including Dollar General and Dollar Tree will extend their hours on Thanksgiving.
On the other hand, most Old Navy stores will be closed, but select locations will stay open for a few hours.
Some Ace Hardware locations will also remain open. It's best to check online if your store is one of them.
