National Education Association to Advise ACPS on Teacher Compensation Issues

Alexandria City Public Schools is the only school system in the country to sign on to the program.

The National Education Association has signed on with Alexandria City Public Schools to review and make recommendations on how ACPS recruits, places, develops, evaluates and compensates its employees.

The intent of the initiative, which is expected to take three years, is to go beyond current pay-for-performance models and to develop the best possible system to support modern teaching and create an exceptional student learning environment, according to ACPS.

NEA President Dennis Van Roekel, ACPS Superintendent Morton Sherman and Gina Miller, president of the Education Association of Alexandria, say the collaboration is a strategic approach designed to create the next generation of compensation innovation.
