Heat Advisory Thursday for DC Metro Area: National Weather Service

A Heat Advisory is in effect Thursday for the entire DC metro region.

The National Weather Service has issued a Heat Advisory Thursday for the entire DC metro region.

The combination of high temperatures and high humidity will combine to create heat index values, the "feels like" temperature, hitting 105 degrees Thursday, according to the weather service. Temperatures will reach highs in the mid-90s.

There is a risk of heat-related illness for those without air-conditioning or those who remain outdoors for an extended period, the weather service warned in its Advisory, issued Thursday at about 10:30 a.m.
