No Santa Photos This Year at Prince Street Firehouse

But they have a good excuse - the photographer and family just had a baby.

Local Alexandria firefighters at the IAFF Local 2141 had to cancel a tradition this year - photos with Santa at the historic Firehouse 201 on Prince St.

The event helps raise money for the Helping Hands Relief Fund supporting local firefighters and paramedics.

"During the past two years, I had have the pleasure of coordinating the event as well as serving as the photographer," reads a post by Santa Photographer and IAFF Executive Board Member Wells Wilson on the IAFF 2141 website. "This year, I must regrettably share that Santa will not be able to visit with us for photos at Firehouse 201. The reason for this is a positive one; my wife and I recently celebrated the arrival of our first child, Evelyn, on Thursday, November 17."

Because of the timing, Wilson has been unable to organize the event.

"Please know that cancelling this event was not an easy decision," he said, adding that the tradition will be back next year.
