A pet-focused festival on the Alexandria waterfront is cancelled as forecasts anticipate flooding and other impacts.

ALEXANDRIA, VA — Paws in the Park, a pet-focused festival and major fundraiser for the Animal Welfare League of Alexandria, has been cancelled.
The Animal Welfare League of Alexandria cited anticipated impacts of a nor'easter storm on the Alexandria waterfront. The festival was intended to go on in the rain, but organizers cancelled as high winds and flooding in the park are forecast. Paws in the Park was scheduled to take place Sunday, Oct. 12 at Oronoco Bay Park.
"We are absolutely crushed that this has happened," the organization shared. "We were looking forward to a day of fun and community with YOU – our animal-loving friends."
