Update: Suspicious Package Prompts Police to Close Diagonal Road Monday Evening

Update: There was a call reporting a suspicious package at the National Credit Union Administration on Monday evening, according to an Alexandria Police Department spokesman.

The incident closed Diagonal Road going westbound toward Duke Street.

The Arlington Bomb Squad was called in and determined the package did not contain any harmful materials, according to Alexandria Police spokesman Jody Donaldson. 

The credit union administration was evacuated during the incident.  

Bystanders said at the time that they had been told that a suspicious package had been found in the area. The incident attracted much attention as it occurred during rush hour by the King Street Metro.
