Power Outage Strikes Nearly 100 Homes in Old Town Alexandria

Pop-up thunderstorm strikes area late Sunday night.

ALEXANDRIA, VA -- Nearly 100 homes were without power late Sunday night in Old Town Alexandria, according to Dominion Power.

The utility's outage map showed an area of outages in Old Town Alexandria near the intersection of Jefferson Street and N. Pitt Street.

According to Dominion, crews restored power to most of the homes, but an outage map still showed 12 homes without power. The cause of the outage was pending investigation.

A pop-up thunderstorm hit some parts of Arlington and Alexandria late Sunday night around 11:30 p.m.

More than 800 homes in Fairfax County's Dunn Loring area were without power just before midnight Sunday night, according to Dominion Power.
