Second Alexandria Police Cruiser Stolen

A second police cruiser has been stolen from the Alexandria Police Department, but later was found in northeast Washington, DC.

The vehicle was stolen from the 1500 block of Princess Street, probably sometime between late Friday and early Saturday.

The 2007 Ford Crown Victoria was last seen parked and locked at 11:30 p.m. Friday and was noticed missing at 4:35 a.m. Saturday, according to police.

Shortly after it was discovered missing, police in Washington notified Alexandria police of the location of the missing cruiser. It was then towed to Alexandria Police Department headquarters.

No equipment was taken and all property was recovered from the cruiser.

But the prior stolen cruiser didn’t fare so well. A locked police car was stolen last week while parked on Duke Street and later recovered in Prince George's County. A Remington 870 shotgun and a Panasonic Toughbook mobile computer were taken from that vehicle and have not been recovered.

Detectives are looking into the possibility that the two cases are related.
