Sheriff's Office Joins Project to Give Winter Coats to Children of Inmates

For the first time this year, the Alexandria Sheriff's Office participated in "Operation Warm," a program started in Pennsylvania to offer warm coats to kids.

More than 75 coats were distributed as part of Operation Warm's "Coats for Kids" project to provide coats to the children of inmates incarcerated at the William G. Truesdale Adult Detention Center.

This is the first year the Alexandria Sheriff's Office participated in Operation Warm's annual event providing thousands of area children with new, warm coats each fall.

The distribution took place at the Detention Center's new roll call room.
