Spring2Action: Nonprofits Seek Boost On Alexandria's Day Of Giving

Alexandria's 15th annual day of giving Spring2Action will be held on Wednesday, and early giving is already underway.

ALEXANDRIA, VA — Community members are getting ready to help out causes close to their hearts during Alexandria's annual day of giving.

Spring2Action, a day of giving organized by ACT for Alexandria, will be held for 24 hours on Wednesday, April 9. Early giving started on March 26.

This marks the 15th anniversary of Spring2Action. Last year, 7,808 donors provided $2.97 million to 188 nonprofits serving Alexandria. The hundreds of participating nonprofits represent a wide variety of causes, from safety net services and animal welfare to education and the arts.

Participating nonprofits have the chance to win bonus prizes such as the most donors or most donations, as well as randomly-drawn prizes. Some nonprofits have matching offers if they reach a certain donation level.

Donors can contribute to nonprofits directly through the Spring2Action website or to fundraisers for specific nonprofits. Some businesses will also provide a portion of sales as donations when you shop or dine there.

Restaurants or businesses donating during Spring2Action on April 9 will include ESP Tea & Coffee (for Santa Claus Yacht Club), Founding Farmers (for ACT for Alexandria), Del Ray Cafe (for At Home in Alexandria), Frank Pepe (for Alexandria Soccer), Sweet Fire Donna's (for Center for Alexandria's Children), Holy Cow Burgers (for Casa Chirilagua), Tequila & Taco (for Alexandria Little League), Pork Barrel BBQ (for The Men's Home), Whiskey & Oyster (for Cornerstone Craftsman), Made in ALX (for Volunteer Alexandria), The Royal (for Carpenter's Shelter), Aldo's Italian Kitchen (for Alexandria Singers), Mystic Bar & Grill (for Cornerstone Craftsman), Vola's Hi-Tide Lounge (for Kids' First Years), Gustave Boulangerie Garden (for Wilderness Kids) and Piece Out Del Ray (for ALIVE).
