Here are 5 Things for this Wednesday, Aug. 7 to begin your roll toward the weekend:
Todd Thrasher, in the kitchen — Alexandria’s resident mixology expert will showcase his cooking skills in Society Fair’s demonstration kitchen. He’ll prepare paella paired with Spanish wines starting at 7:30 p.m. Reservations are $100 with some proceeds going to charity Fit for Hope. Society Fair is located at 277 S. Washington St.

Afternoon bluegrass — Silver City will perform country and bluegrass tunes in a free, outdoor concert beginning at noon beside the Potomac River at the Canal Center Plaza amphitheater (44 Canal Center Plaza).
Avenue Q — The Tony Award-winning musical comedy featuring racy puppets and rowdy songs is currently in the midst of its run at The Little Theatre of Alexandria (600 Wolfe St.). A performance of the coming-of-age tale will be presented at 8 tonight. Tickets range from $22. For mature audiences only.

Trivia at T.J.— T.J. Stones (608 Montgomery St.) hosts trivia night beginning at 6:30 p.m. Check out the beer list. Trust me.
Scottish Country Dancing — You know you want to try it.
