It may be the dog days of summer, but there’s still plenty going on in Old Town and the rest of the region.

Almost Bon Jovi — Living on a Bad Name, a Bon Jovi cover band from Massachusetts (not Jersey?) brings its high-energy act to Old Town’s Waterfront Park (1A Prince St.) at 7 p.m. Friday for a free concert.

If you’re looking for a sampling of hits, deep cuts and perhaps a dose of bad medicine, check out this tribute act featuring guitar dynamo Ethan Brosh and radio personality Ken Pittman.
Attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and blankets. Food and refreshments will be available for purchase and attendees are welcome to back a picnic. No grilling or pets allowed.

Firehouse Storytime — Educate your kids about firefighters 200 years ago. It’s Friendship Summertime Storytime at the Friendship Firehouse Museum, 107 S. Alfred St. 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Saturday. The event is for children ages 6 and older and their caregivers and costs $4 per child. Reservations are required and can be placed by emailing Friendship@alexandriava.gov or calling 703-746-4994.
Have You Found Waldo? — Martin Handford’s beloved creation is hiding inside 25 businesses along King Street in Old Town this month as part of a Where’s Waldo? scavenger hunt presented by Hooray For Books!
Those who wish to seek Waldo can pickup a special Waldo Passport at the book store, located at 1555 King St., or download one here.

Musicians — The State Fair of Virginia is seeking local music acts to play during the 10-day fair, which begins Sept. 27. There is no charge to perform and performers are not paid. Artists would play at the Meadow Event Park’s Triple Crown Amphitheater. Send information to Micki Long at micki@threeoneoneproductions.com.
Performance Art — Looking to do something artsy this week? Stop by the Capitol Fringe Festival showcasing exploratory and contemporary performances. It’s going on now and runs through July 28. The festival is being held in a variety of venues in Washington, DC ranging from the Goethe Institute on 7th St., NW to Studio Theatre on 14th St., NW.
