Update: Tornado Watch Extended for Alexandria Until 3 p.m.

Updated: The National Weather Service has issued a tornado watch for Alexandria through 3 p.m. Thursday.

Thunderstorms could produce damaging wind gusts and isolated tornadoes. The NWS also says hail one to one and a half inches in diameter is possible as are wind gusts up to 70 miles per hour.

A Tornado Watch means conditions are favorable for tornadoes and severe thunderstorms in and close to the watch area.

Residents should be on the lookout for threatening weather conditions and watch for later weather statements and possible warnings.
