UPDATE: Police Identify Alexandria Stabbing Victim

Police say they are investigating Thursday night's stabbing as a homicide.

ALEXANDRIA, VA -- UPDATE 6:38 p.m.: The victim who died after being stabbed Thursday night in Alexandria has been identified as Shakeel Baldon, 43, of Alexandria, according to police.

This incident is being investigated as a homicide, police said in an alert.

This is the second homicide in Alexandria in 2016.

ALEXANDRIA, VA -- A man has died after he was stabbed last night in Alexandria, according to police.

The Alexandria Police Department is investigating the stabbing that occurred Thursday night in the 6100 block of Lincolnia Road (see map below). The area is off of Little River Turnpike, in the City's West End, and borders Fairfax County. The Plaza at Landmark shopping center is nearby.

At approximately 9:36 p.m., officers responded to the area for an injured person, police said. A man was located by police, suffering from upper body trauma, according to police.

The victim was transported to an area hospital, where he later died, police said. The investigation is ongoing. The victim’s identity is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.

No word from police if the victim was able to give them information about a suspect or other information.
