Attention, residents of Reston, Herndon, and the rest of Fairfax County: be careful where you buy tickets to the upcoming three (or maybe two) World Series games in D.C. this weekend, police say.

"Detectives are investigating an increasing number of online and phone scams involving the sale of World Series tickets," according to a report from the Fairfax County Police Department. "Fans are reminded to use caution when purchasing tickets from sources other than Major League Baseball or authorized dealers. Be sure to research the vendor and review their security protocols before providing personal information or payment."

Police say that if you think you were scammed, file a report online with the Financial Crimes Section.
