Coming Aug. 18: Works Sunday in Reston

Works Sunday - the 18th annual day of volunteerism in Reston and Herndon - returns Sunday, Aug. 18.

Works Sunday is sponsored by area faith communities, but one does not have to be a member to take part in the 21 service projects.

Almost all the projects are in the Reston-Herndon area.

Projects for 2013 include a number of varied social outreach events for residents of local nursing homes, a Blood Drive, the collection of clothing and personal items for the homeless, a Food Drive on Saturday, August 17th for Cornerstones (formerly Reston Interfaith), support for Ronald McDonald House of Northern Virginia, and light yard and maintenance work at “Gabriel Homes” - local group homes for the intellectually challenged.
