Generations Family Practice Brings Full-Service Medical Care to Reston
Dr. Daniel Salmeron of Generations Family Practice discusses the office's community involvement and how it maintains its competitive edge.

Generations Family Practice combines respect, compassion and positivity with nearly 20 years worth of experience supporting patients in the Reston area. The independently owned, family medicine office employs a singular maxim: "Our family caring for yours." But for Generations Family Practice, this is more than a motto; it is a way of life.
Patch: One of Generations Family Practice's objectives is to make healthcare more convenient for patients. What steps do you take toward achieving that goal?
Generations Family Practice: We try to remove the stress from health care by remaining focused on the individual patient, not volume, and by staying on the cutting edge of technology. We offer extended hours, same-day sick-visits and weekend clinics so that our patients can be seen quickly at times that are convenient for them. We also offer an online portal, where patients can view their medical records, request appointments and view and pay bills.

Patch: How did you first become involved in health care?
Generations Family Practice: As a son of an ophthalmologist, I grew up seeing how grateful patients were to my father. I saw how my father's charisma and compassionate care changed patients' lives. It is something I wanted to experience and now enjoy doing myself.

Patch: What is your definition of success?
Generations Family Practice: For me, success can be defined by how much positive impact I can have on others while maintaining mental, spiritual and physical wellbeing in my work and personal life.
Patch: How are you involved in the community?
Generations Family Practice: All of the providers at GFP are passionate about serving our community. You can find us speaking on various topics related to health care at local hospitals, health fairs, chambers of commerce, and we hold quarterly Q&A sessions at the Reston YMCA, whom we have recently partnered with to increase our patients’ access to healthy lifestyle options.
Patch: How does Generations Family Practice distinguish itself from the competition?
Generations Family Practice: GFP is one of the few remaining independent, physician-owned family practices in the area; many have been bought by large hospital systems. This allows us to prioritize quality of care and customer service when we make decisions. For example, while other practices are decreasing visit lengths and double-booking sick visits, we always reserve appointment slots for same-day sick visits and have increased visit lengths for several services, so neither the patients nor the providers feel rushed.
Patch: What are three tips you could give Patch readers to help maintain their health?
Generations Family Practice: Get 150 minutes of moderate intensity exercise per week; drink an average of 64 ounces of water per day; sleep seven to eight hours per night. Of course, get your annual physical at GFP!
Patch: How can Patch readers contact your or learn more about Generations Family Practice?
